The CRKN Board of Directors is pleased to welcome the Library of Parliament as a new Associate Member, expanding CRKN’s community to 88 members. The institution was approved by the Board during a recent meeting and is now participating in CRKN’s heritage program.
The Library of Parliament, established in 1871, is a national institution dedicated to preserving and providing access to the knowledge and information resources that support Parliament. Beyond serving parliamentarians, the Library plays a vital role in informing the public about Canada’s parliamentary system. One of its recent initiatives is the digitization of a sizable collection of transcribed interviews with parliamentarians from the 1970s and 1980s. The Library of Parliament has had an ongoing agreement with CRKN since 2012 to host the library’s content through a custom portal that provides the public with vital access to Canadian parliamentary historical resources.
“Over the years, the Library of Parliament has benefitted from a partnership with the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN),” said Christine Ivory, Parliamentary Librarian. “As we join CRKN as an Associate Member, the Library is excited to build on this longstanding partnership, which aligns with our mandate of creating, managing and delivering authoritative, reliable and relevant information and knowledge for and about Parliament.”
Associate Members of CRKN join our network of academic and research institutions from across Canada and benefit from access to member-only resources, eligibility for our annual call for digitization projects, priority rates for CRKN’s annual conference, governance opportunities through CRKN’s committees and task groups, and more.
